SHOW PROGRAM
Black Hills Community Theatre is excited to bring theatre out into our community beginning this summer. BHCT Summer Stage will be performing at outdoor locations throughout Rapid City between June 1st and June 9th, plus the Renaissance Faire in Lead, June 15 & 16.

This summer's production will be William Shakespeare's Love's Labour's Lost.  When the King of Navarre and his three devoted friends swear off love for a year, fate brings four funny, smart women to their court.  A small cast will bring to life Shakespeare's sparkling romantic comedy in a fast and fun adaptation.  Bring a picnic and the whole family and enjoy BHCT for free!

Things to know for Love's Labour' Lost Renaissance Festival Performances:

-The Black Hills Renaissance Festival is located at Recreational Springs Resort in Lead ( 11201 US Hwy 14a, Lead, SD 57754)

-There is an admission fee to enter the festival ($20 for adults, $15 for ages 6-12 and free for under 6; there are weekend and family passes available as well). The festival is open from 11am-7pm on Saturday and 11am-5pm on Sunday. Come early and check out the many vendors they have!

-The performance will take place at the stage at the festival from 3pm-5pm starting with the youth Apprentice Company preshow immediately followed by Love's Labour's Lost.

-Actors will not use microphones for this performance.

-Make sure to bring water to keep yourselves hydrated! Sunscreen and bug spray would probably be a good idea, too!

-Parking is available at the Sanford Lab Homestake Visitors Center/Aspire Boutique in Lead (170 W Main St) and free shuttles will be running every 30 minutes to bring guests to the festival. Parking at the resort is limited to vendors, performers, resort guests, and those with disabilities.

-If weather makes the performance fully impossible to occur, it will be cancelled.

Things to know for Love's Labour' Lost Rapid City Park Performances:
- No tickets or reservations needed! Just show up! Donations will be accepted.
- Bring your own chairs and/or blankets. A limited area closest to the stage will be reserved for people with blankets so that their view will not be obstructed by chairs.
-Along with a picnic dinner, make sure to bring water to keep yourselves hydrated! Sunscreen and bug spray would probably be a good idea, too!
-You may arrive anytime after 4:30pm and enjoy theatre games and pre-show entertainment before the show begins at 5:30pm.
-Look for signs and BHCT Staff (maybe wearing a silly hat?) to help answer other questions you have.
-BHCT will monitor weather forecasts and if necessary announce rain plans at least two hours prior to show time (via our email list and Facebook). If a storm is incoming, the May 31st and June 1st performances will be canceled – other performances will move indoors to the Historic Theatre at the Performing Arts Center of Rapid City. If we experience poor weather after a performance has started, we will take a brief break to stow all electrical equipment and if possible, the show will go on!

Parking & Park Specific Info.

o   HTR Resorts: Enter off Hwy 16 into campground. Proceed past office and  down to the large gravel parking lot. The walk from the parking lot to the ampitheatre includes a steep incline.

o   Old Storybook Island: Turn off Canyon Lake Drive at the Parks Department to access the Old Storybook Island picnic shelter parking lot. The walk from the picnic shelter parking lot to the performance space is short and flat. It is also possible to park on Sheridan Lake Road and walk to the performance space at Old Storybook Island.

o   Memorial Park: We will perform in front of the bandshell. There are flat and paved sidewalks and walkways between the parking lots and performance space.

o   Robbinsdale Park: Access the upper picnic shelter through any park entrance. There is some parking right at the shelter – allowing a short walk, mostly on pavement to the performance space. Additional parking above the shelter, requiring a longer walk on an incline. Audience seating at Robbinsdale is on a slope – ideal for picnic blankets!

o   Roosevelt Park: Park on Herman or E New York Street or at the Roosevelt Park Ice Arena. The performance space is level and can be reached by a combination of paved and gravel pathways and over grass. Restrooms at Roosevelt Park are located a brief walk away from the performance space. Actors will not use microphones for the Roosevelt Park performance.

The mission of BHCT is to collaborate with our community to entertain, educate, and foster growth in the arts with a vision to serve as a creative and educational home that is inclusive, transformative, and inspirational for the entire community and the values of community engagement, inclusivity, innovation and creativity.
