BHCT celebrates the rich cultural and artistic heritage of our community with a showcase of local indigenous artists. Featuring speakers, drummers, youth performers, and more, the Mitakuye Oyasin Talent Showcase promises to be an evening of entertainment and education. All performers have been awarded a mini grant through BHCT's Native American Arts Collaboration Committee (NAACC). The NAACC is working to ensure our whole community is reflected on our stage.
Mini-grant applications for projects happening Jan-June of 2027 will open in November.

The Stories I Carry: A Lakota Wiŋyaŋ Veteran’s Journey performed by Frances Eagle Tail Dupris
The Stories I Carry: A Lakota Wiŋyaŋ Veteran’s Journey is a solo storytelling performance that blends personal narrative, projected images, and meaningful items on stage to share the artist's journey as a Lakota woman, mother, veteran, and community advocate. “Wiŋyaŋ” means woman in Lakota, and this project centers the stories, responsibilities, and experiences I carry through family, culture, service, motherhood, resilience, and healing.
Omniciye performed by Jeremiah Moreno
Sharing Lakota knowledge and wisdom through oral traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation. Through storytelling, songs, dances, language, and traditional games, the audience will experience the cultural teachings that have guided the Lakota Oyate for centuries.
Poetry performed by Shoya
Shoya shares her own writing in a performance intended to turn on the light for people who think there is no light. BHCT audiences will remember Shoya (Mia Read) from her performance in Average Family in 2022.
The Story of the Black Hat Firefighters by Kevin Eagle Tail
Explores the legacy of the Black Hat Firefighters, which was started by a group of Lakotas including Kevin's father Frederick E. Eagle Tail. The original Black Hat crew fought wildfires around the nation before disbanding in 1988.
Ribbon Skirt Presentation by Bev Bad Moccasin and Leslie Vermillion
Bev and Leslie talk about the history and importance of the ribbon skirt as well as showcasing some beautiful examples.
Iktomi by Tosa Two Heart
A showcase of original Lakota fashion design. Tosa's aesthetic is one of Lakota traditional designs with bold colors and composition. Her fahsion has been featured in various fashion shows throughout the years and appeared in Native Max Magazine and the Hamiinat magazine.
