Six kingdoms, three kings, two shipwrecks - four actors. Adapted by BHCT's own Broken Lemons playwrights, The Adventures of Pericles has it all: assassins, knights, magicians, romance, comedy, and a guy named Moe. This family-friendly epic adventure will be performed throughout Rapid City this June.
Things to know for The Adventures of Pericles Outdoor Performances:
- No tickets or reservations needed! Just show up! Donations will be accepted.
- Bring your own chairs and/or blankets. A limited area closest to the stage will be reserved for people with blankets so that their view will not be obstructed by chairs.
-Along with a picnic dinner, make sure to bring water to keep yourselves hydrated! Sunscreen and bug spray would probably be a good idea, too!
-You may arrive anytime after 3:30pm and enjoy theatre games, fight a knight, and decorate your own shield before the show begins at 5:30pm.
-Look for signs and BHCT Staff (maybe wearing a silly hat?) to help answer other questions you have.
-BHCT will monitor weather forecasts and, if necessary, announce rain plans at least two hours prior to show time (via our email list and Facebook). If a storm is incoming, outdoor performances will move indoors to the Studio Theater at the Performing Arts Center of Rapid City. If we experience poor weather after a performance has started, we will take a brief break to stow all electrical equipment and if possible, the show will go on!
Parking & Location Specific Info.
o Outdoors at the Performing Arts Center: The performance will be on the lawn to the west of the Performing Arts Center on the corner of 7th St. and Columbus Street. Patrons can park in the parking lot on Columbus St just like they are going to a production in the Historic Theater and then head towards the grass area to the right of the building. Patrons will have access to restrooms inside the PACRC.
o Roosevelt Park: Park on Herman or E New York Street or at the Roosevelt Park Ice Arena. The performance space is level and can be reached by a combination of paved and gravel pathways and over grass. Restrooms at Roosevelt Park are located a brief walk away from the performance space.
o Indoors at Studio Theater at the Performing Arts Center: Just like any performance in the Studio Theater, you can either park and enter on South Street or use the parking on Columbus Street and follow signage to get to the Studio Theater. No need to bring blankets and chairs. The schedule is the same as the other performances and all pre-show camp activities (including the Fight A Knight) will happen indoors.
o Canyon Lake Park: We are performing at Canyon Lake Park Shelter #1. Park anywhere along Canyon Lake Drive. The nearest parking is next to Shelter #1 and a pond. The walk to the performance area is flat over grass and along paved trails and roads. Restrooms are located nearby.
