Children's Theatre at
Storybook Island
 


Black Hills Community Theatre will be presenting Children’s Theatre performances at Storybook Island beginning June 9th and continuing until August 22nd.

The performances will be presented at the
Storybook Island McDonald's Theatre
on Tuesday - Saturday, three times daily
at 10:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., and Noon.
Admission fee $1 per person

Shows will be:

  • July 14 & 15    August 7 & 8

    "The End of the Beginning" by Robert Menna, Avon , the snail, always reads about the adventures of others and finally decides to have an adventure on his own. He is accompanied on his journey by Edward the ant.  Together they encounter different creatures, fight great battles, and commit great deeds.
       Casting:
         Avon the Snail: Brooke Grassby
         Edward the Ant: Maxwell Downs
         Narrator #1/Salamander/
            Snail on branch: Kameron  Nelson
         Narrator #2/Worm: Jacob Mobley
         Newt/Mouse/

  • July 16 & 17    August 4 - 6    August 14 & 15

    "Paper Bag Princess, adapted from the book by Robert Munsch
    , Princess Elizabeth is slated to marry Prince Ronald when a dragon attacks the castle and kidnaps Ronald. Elizabeth finds the dragon, outsmarts him, and rescues Ronald-who is less than pleased by her un-princess-like appearance.

          Narrator #2: Brooke Grassby
          Elizabeth : Kelsey Weber
          Ronald: Maxwell Downs
          Dragon: Jacob Mobley

    "Up the Creek" by Jason Reuter, Paddy the Paddlefish is on a journey to find his home and reunite with his family and is helped by many fishy friends along the way.
       Casting:

         Old Man/Cap'n the Cat Fish: Jacob Mobley
         Ellie the Eel /

  • June 30 - July 4   July 30 & 31    August 18 & 19

    "Tootle"
    Adapted from a Little Golden Book Classic. Tootle the locomotive has to go to school to learn to be a big locomotive. The most important lesson that she has to learn is ‘Staying on the Rails No Matter What.’

Storybook Island Camps

Spend a sun filled week with the Storybook actors & staff learning theatre games, creative storytelling, and playwriting with a performance at the end of the week!

Each session is limited to 20 campers per age group.

Tuesday, July 7th – Saturday, July 11th

Tuesday, July 21st – Saturday July 25th

9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

Cost is $75.00 & will include a Theatre Camp T-shirt.

Black Hills Community Theatre will be presenting the 2009-2010 season in our theatre space at the Rushmore Mall, located between JC Penney and Radio Shack.

An entertaining musical for all audiences by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.

Nov. 6 - 22, 2009
The riotous British farce written by the masters of the genre, Ray Cooney and John Chapman.

Doubt, A Parable
Feb. 5 - 21, 2010
The compelling dramatic Broadway Tony Award Best Play and Pulitzer prize winner by John Patrick Shanley.

Lost in Yonkers
Mar. 19 - Apr. 3, 2010
The Neil Simon comedy/drama, Pultizer Prize and Tony Award winner for Best Play.

The Underpants
May 7 - 23, 2010
The hilarious comedy written by German playwright Carl Sternheim and adapted by comedian Steve Martin.
