CASTING:
Looking for a diverse cast of performers of all genders ages 18 and up. Unless specifically stated otherwise, roles are open to qualified actors of all races, colors, ethnicities, gender identities, ages and abilities. The ages mentioned refer to the characters' ages and do not represent age requirements for actors. The director and production team are deeply committed to inclusion throughout the audition and rehearsal process.
AUDITIONS:
Saturday February 21, 6-8pm
Sunday February 22, 1-3pm
The audition room will be open 30 minutes before auditions start for actors who would like to familiarize themselves with the room in advance. Staff will be available to answer any questions or provide any accommodations.
Performing Arts Center of Rapid City. Use South Street Entrance.
Choose a day to audition and sign up for a slot below. If interested and unable to attend any audition time or callbacks, please contact [email protected] by Friday, February 20th to make alternative arrangements.
PREPARATION:
Auditions will consist of cold readings from the show. Actors should review and prepare (memorization not required) the scene of their choice from those provided. After an initial reading of that scene, actors may be asked to read additional scenes and roles. Actors who need accommodations to provide their best audition are encouraged to reach out in advance and we will do our best to help! Actors are encouraged to read the script prior to auditioning. To request a copy of the script or an accommodation, please contact [email protected].
CALLBACKS:
Monday, February 23 at 6:30pm, Performing Arts Center of Rapid City. Those who are needed to attend callbacks, will receive an email after the second night of auditions. Callbacks will consist of additional readings from the script.
Important Dates:
Regular rehearsals (usually Sundays-Thursdays 6:30pm-9:30pm) will tentatively begin on Sunday, March 22.
Performance Dates:
May 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16 at 7pm
May 3, 10, 17 at 2pm

ADAIR MACLEOD: 30’S, Rob’s daughter, an attorney, independent and also stubborn
BART MACLEOD*: 30’s, Rob’s son, a rancher, farmer, and frustrated poet, sings
THERESA MACLEOD: 30’s, Bart’s wife, long-suffering and about to break
CAM MACLEOD*: 60’s, Rob’s brother, also a farmer, calm, sensible
JANE MACLEOD: 60’s, Cam’s wife, loves her family fiercely
EVAN MACLEOD*: 30’s, Cam and Jane’s son, autistic, thoughtful and warm, (neuro-divergent actor preferred)
TRENT NICHOLS: 40’s, an employee of Canadian Energy, kind in his way
MAT SALINAS: 40’s, an attorney, dedicated, unflappable (Latino actor strongly preferred)
*Role requires some singing. Actors should be comfortable singing on stage, but need not be trained singers
