CHERRY STREET PLAYERS
Summer Camps 2025
All camps culminate in a Friday showcase; at 10:00 a.m. for the morning camps and at 3:00 p.m. for the afternoon camps
June 9-13 8:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. Mother Goose Alive! (ages 6-10)
Those catchy rhymes we all learned as children provide the basis for a week of creative play, cheeky performances, and colorful characters, from Little Bo Peep to The Big Bad Wolf to Jack and Jill.
June 9-13 1:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. Comedy Cavalcade (ages 11-14)
Students sharpen their funny bones by performing in this crazy salad of comic sketches both classic and contemporary, with an extra opportunity to write and perform their own comic creations.
June 16-20 8:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. Creature Features (ages 6-10)
Tall tales, loopy legend and merry myths, all involving animals. Students practice fundamental acting skills and perform a handful of short plays, learning a bit about international cultures as well. That’s edutainment!
July 14-18 1:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. Improv Intensive (ages 11-14)
Students are introduced to the building blocks of improvisation: saying yes-and, being in-the-moment, and having fun! Dozens of short-form games will sharpen listening and collaborative skills.
July 21-25 8:00 A.M. -11:00 A.M. Playmaking (ages 6-10)
Beginning with simple theatre games and storytelling exercises, students collaborate to build a performance of stories, from the ground up. No scripts, so an ideal camp for performers who aren’t yet proficient readers.
July 21-25 1:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. Stage Combat (ages 11-14)
Students learn more about the art of stage fighting. The course will cover the basics in a safe environment as well as exercises to get ready for the cardio that the activities demand. It’s like dancing, but with weapons.
August 4-8 1:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. Mask Mania (ages 6 – 10)
Learn the art of mask making and unlock the stories that your mask and your imagination concoct. Students will have the chance to learn techniques for effective movement when performing with masks.
August 11-15 8:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. Return to Oz (ages 6 – 10)
Students will revisit the children’s classic, performing scenes and songs perhaps featuring Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion, Tin Man, the Wizard, Glinda, Elphaba, and Toto too. Even Elvira Gulch might ride by.
August 11-15 1:00 P.M.–4:00 P.M. The Great Plays (ages 11 – 14)
Students use a variety of techniques to bring scenes and monologues to life, along the way getting a crash course in some of the key plays in the theatre canon, from Shakespeare to the present day.
Tuition for all camps is $120, plus tax, a total of $127.44. Some scholarships are available.
Class size is limited.
Completed registration forms can be emailed to [email protected] or dropped off at the PACRC daytime Box Office.
