This Fall, The Cherry Street Players will be offering two programs.
The full semester is open to students aged 10-14 and runs for ten weeks, beginning on Saturday, September 21 and culminating in a production the weekend of December 6-8. For the first five weeks, students come once a week, on either Saturday morning from 10:00 to Noon or Monday afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00. Theatre basics are explored, as students grow creatively and collaboratively. The program shifts into rehearsal in Week 6, and accelerates to five weekly rehearsals leading up to performance weekend. This schedule allows class elements to continue through the rehearsal period so the learning and exploration continue. Our Fall production will be the delightful comedy, Darcy's Cinematic Life. Everyone has a role. Creative ownership is a key objective of our Education program, and this play offers students many opportunities to contribute their ideas on both performance and production aspects. Class size is limited to 40 students. The cost is $265.50 ($250 plus tax).
Students who participated in either of our 2023-2024 productions, Seussical Jr. or The Greek Mythology Olympiaganza, may register ahead, during the month of August. General registration for the semester will be on Saturday, September 7, from 10:00 until Noon, in the theatre’s 4th floor rehearsal room and is on a first-come, first-served basis.
We're also offering an additional short-term course called Cherry Street Mini. It's available for students aged 8 - 14. Students will meet for six successive Tuesdays from 4:00-6:00, beginning on September 24. Through theatre games, improvisation, and collaborative playmaking, students learn the fundamentals of theatrical performance and the excitement of working as an ensemble. The program culminates in a Showcase of student work on Tuesday, October 29. “Mini” is designed as a bridge to Cherry Street Players, and offering older students with a busy schedule a chance to stay involved in theatre and younger actors an introduction to our program. Class size is limited to 20 students. The cost is $132.75 ($125 plus tax).
50% scholarships are available for both programs.

Since its inception in 1999, the Cherry Street Players has introduced over 350 young people ages 8-14 to the artistic and technical fundamentals of theater. Students participate in classroom exercises and instruction that culminate in the rehearsal and performance of a fully staged production each semester. All participants get a chance to showcase what they’ve learned and experience the excitement of performing live for the community.
