BHCT SUMMER STAGE

Show Program
Directed by Merlyn Q. Sell
Assistant Directed by Marissa Fosberg and Charlotte Grey
Sponsored by Black Hills Energy and Highmark Federal Credit Union

BHCT's Summer Stage is back with A Midsummer Night's Dream - featuring sixteen characters played by only three actors. In a wood outside Athens, two young couples, a troupe of amateur actors, and the King & Queen of the fairies have an unforgettable night filled with transformations, betrayals, spells, and hi-jinks. All may be resolved come morning, but in the moonlight confusion and hilarity reign. Things to know for A Midsummer Night's Dream Outdoor Performances:
- No tickets or reservations needed! Just show up! Donations will be accepted.
- Bring your own chairs and/or blankets.
-Along with a picnic dinner, make sure to bring water to keep yourselves hydrated! Sunscreen and bug spray would probably be a good idea, too! For our performance at Cohort Brewery, you can treat yourself to a beer or a sandwich from Mom's Deli.
-You may arrive anytime after 5:00pm and enjoy theatre games, creating magical flowers and learning a song (both which could be utilized in the show!). Watch the apprentice preshow at 5:40 before the show begins at 6:00pm.
-Look for signs and BHCT Staff in Midsummer t-shirts to help answer other questions you have.
-BHCT will monitor weather forecasts and, if necessary, announce rain plans at least two hours prior to show time (via our email list and Facebook). If a storm is incoming, outdoor performances will move indoors to the Historic Theater at the Performing Arts Center of Rapid City. If we experience poor weather after a performance has started, we will take a brief break to evaluate and if possible, the show will go on!

Parking & Location Specific Info.

o   Cohort Brewery in Hill City: Address: 23845 US-385, Hill City, SD 57745. Park in the brewery's lot and then find the outdoor seating and performance area. Some picnic tables are available at the performance site - but we recommend bringing a chair or blanket in case.

o  Robbinsdale Park: We will be at the uppermost picnic shelter, just past the Little League fields. Enter through any park entrance, but be prepared for possible road construction. There is plenty of parking right at the shelter – allowing a short walk, mostly on pavement to the performance space. Additional parking if needed, is available throughout the park.

o  Roosevelt Park: Park on Herman or E New York Street or at the Roosevelt Park Ice Arena. The performance space is level and can be reached by a combination of paved and gravel pathways and over grass.

o Outdoors at Dahl Arts Center: Find parking downtown and then find us outside of the Dahl on the Quincy Street side of the building.

o   Raider Park: Located directly across from the Stevens High School main entrance on Raider Road. Plenty of parking by the tennis courts, then a brief downhill walk to the amphitheatre space. Blankets and low chairs are ideal for the tiered seating area. There is a drop off point on Raider Rd for those needing a more accessible route to the playing space.

o   Indoors at the Historic Theater at the Performing Arts Center: Just like any performance in the Historic Theater,  use the parking on Columbus Street and enter the main doors. No need to bring blankets and chairs. The schedule is the same as the other performances and all pre-show camp activities will happen indoors.
