Not into the idea of a "lovey dovey" Valentine's Day experience this year? Join BHCT for a night of cutting banter, mind games and some revealed truths.
Edward Albee's classic American play centers on the relationship of George, a professor at a small college, and his wife, Martha. When the couple returns home, drunk from a Saturday night party, Martha announces that she has invited a young couple—an opportunistic new professor at the college and his shatteringly naïve new bride—to stop by for a nightcap. When they arrive the charade begins.  It becomes clear that Martha is determined to seduce the young professor, and George couldn't care less. But underneath the edgy banter, which is crossfired between both couples, lurks an undercurrent of tragedy and despair. This production contains adult language and adult situations.

Dakota Daughters: Wounded Knee, 1890
Saturday February 8th at 2pm in the Studio Theater
Free to the Public

The performers of Dakota Daughters combine research and performance to create this reflection on South Dakota history beginning with Manifest Destiny and ending with the 1890 Wounded Knee Massacre. The trio, consisting of Geraldine Goes In Center, Lillian Witt and Joyce Jefferson, give an interpretation of these events through the eyes of Sitting Bull’s daughter, a rancher's wife, and a woman engaged to a Buffalo Soldier. Through the lives of these fictitious characters, they talk about real documents such as the 1868 Fort Laramie Treaty and sing songs, recite poetry and read newspapers from the time portrayed.

This presentation uses accurate, historical language - some of which is offensive today.  A discussion with the performers will follow the presentation.

In this tour-de-force play for one female actor, the writer of 'Frankenstein' delivers a ghostly monologue that encompasses her loves and losses, the inspiration behind her greatest work of literature, and the secrets she hoped to take to the grave. Now that she's there, much to her irritation and witty rage, she finds those secrets have followed her. Fact and fiction collide in a spell-binding story about horror, history, and romance.

Mary Shelley's Body will take place off site outdoors at the Black Hills Castle (address will be sent out after seat reservation is made). As seating is limited we ask that you reserve your seat in advance. Seats are going quickly - make your reservations now!
