The TTI is our in-house training program that focuses on training our interns in all aspects of technical theatre. This program led by our Assistant Technical Director focuses on preparing our interns for professional work in the live-performance industry through an apprenticeship style learning environment. Interns will participate in all fields of performance tech and builds a foundation in operating Lighting, Sound, and Scenic construction. This program also looks in-depth at the design disciplines and teaches the fundamentals of design theory and implementation.
Interns in this program will also be able to start building their portfolio as they work on BHCT productions in various capacities. Roles such as Microphone Technician, Assistant designers, and stage managers are a great way to build a strong resume. Interns also will receive a letter of recommendation or reference to any school or job of their choice.
It should be noted that the TTI is not for everyone! Much like our industry, this program demands long hours, dedication, and physical capability to keep up. The program demands at least two to four hours of on-site training per week, and requires participants to undergo regular examinations and projects to sharpen their skills. Interns are also required to participate in either two BHCT non-musical productions, or one BHCT musical production.
